SZA "Nobody Gets Me"
Branding + Visual Identity
the Song
"Nobody Gets Me" is the fourth single from R&B singer SZA's second studio album SOS (2022). The song recalls memories the singer had with an ex, narrating events that strained their relationship and lamenting this lost love. When I first heard the song, I saw various shades of soft purple and delicate butterflies. I thought I'd explore these thoughts through design, including a logo for the song, merchandise, and creative edits.
the Project
Imagining myself as the art director for the rollout of SZA's new single, "Nobody Gets Me", I explored visuals to capture the song’s core themes of love, loss, and regret. By layering found images with textures and colours, I reimagine the singer in a fresh light. The resulting edits evoke a dreamy, nostalgic atmosphere that resonates with the song’s tender sadness. Visuals were made with SZA's core audience in mind: adolescent women in their late teens and early twenties. Using my art-boards, I then translated design elements into realistic products that would interest fans of SZA and her music including sweaters, a vinyl package, phone cases, backpacks, and social media posts.
